    I read your post in the forum of guild Mirage.

Yes, most of players only think loots and exp, and do not care for other things

such as back ground story of EQ.  Trade skills are only for quests, or just killing time.

Some players pay their attention only foods with status bonus.

    But there are still some players who like role-playing in the world.

Well, try the following things.

1) Make some player-made sweets such as chocolate muffins.

2) Group with foreign players.

3) When someone perform good work, such as nice pull or nice crowd control,

   say, "Good work xxxxx.  You won chocolate muffins for that work." and give the player your muffin. 

Some players may say only "ah, thank you", but some players will say

"Woooot!" or something which you want to see.

 

    I will probably play EQ2.  If you see an Erudite named Faifel, Feivel, or

something similar to those, that Erudite is probably I.  Feel free to send a tell.
